France Academy is an online French tutoring service. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how it's handled.

What Personal Data We Collect
- Booking information: name, email, time zone, session preferences
- Payment information: processed entirely by our payment service provider — France Academy never sees or stores your full card details
- Communication data: messages exchanged via Instagram DM, WhatsApp, or email
- Session content: your French level, progress notes, homework, personalised programme (kept in a private shared document accessible only to you and the tutor)
- Session recordings: sessions may be recorded using a transcription tool for the tutor's internal reference and to prepare accurate progress notes. Recordings are not shared with any third party and are used solely to improve your learning experience.
Why We Use Your Data
- To book, deliver, and follow up on your French lessons
- To process payments securely
- To send you session summaries, homework, and progress reports
- To respond to your questions and requests
We do not send newsletters or marketing emails. We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Legal basis: processing is based on the performance of our tutoring agreement with you (booking, payment, delivering lessons) and, where applicable, your consent (e.g. for optional communications).
Who We Share Your Data With
We use a small number of trusted service providers to run France Academy, each receiving only the data strictly necessary for their function: a payment processing service, a scheduling tool, email and video conferencing tools, an AI-assisted note-taking tool, and a session transcription tool.
These providers may process data internationally. Standard international transfer safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses) apply via each provider's own compliance framework.
We do not share your data with any other third party, and never for advertising purposes.

Our website uses only essential cookies required for booking and payment functionality to work properly.
Data Retention
We keep your session notes and progress records for as long as you remain an active student, and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping purposes. You can request deletion at any time (see "Your Rights" below).
